Last week, HWS Law Group Partners Tony Scisciani and Chris Luhrs obtained a defense verdict for a client in one of the first post-pandemic, live-and-in-person jury trials in King County (Seattle) Superior Court. The case had been pending for over 4 years, was relatively hotly contested, and had been continued multiple times due to the pandemic. HWS obtained a partial victory on directed verdict, resulting in a significant reduction in the plaintiffs’ available damages. Ultimately, after 1.5 weeks of trial, the jury deliberated for only an hour and rendered a complete defense verdict that now sets up the HWS client for a post-trial petition for prevailing party attorneys’ fees.
