Olena Bedenko-Zvarydchuk is an Associate Attorney at HWS Law Group, based in the firm’s Seattle office. She brings a thoughtful, analytical, and globally informed approach to litigation and client advocacy. Olena supports clients across a wide range of civil litigation matters, with a focus on delivering practical, result-oriented legal solutions.

Before joining HWS, Olena built a robust litigation practice in Ukraine, where she represented clients at all stages of the legal process—from pre-trial negotiations and discovery through trial and appellate proceedings. Her Ukrainian practice included intensive work in medical malpractice defense, personal injury defense, labor and employment disputes involving healthcare professionals, and healthcare compliance, including patient privacy and institutional regulatory matters. She is known for her meticulous attention to detail, strategic thinking, and collaborative mindset.

In the United States, Olena expanded her legal experience through an externship with the UW Medicine Compliance Department, where she focused on HIPAA compliance and privacy issues. She also served as a volunteer attorney with the King County Bar Association’s Pro Bono Services at the Seattle Downtown Legal Clinic, where she advised clients on a broad spectrum of legal issues, including:

• Personal injury (both plaintiff and defense)
• Landlord-tenant disputes
• Labor and employment matters
• Denial of social benefits
• Car accidents and title disputes

Olena holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Health Law from the University of Washington, where she graduated with honors for academic excellence. Her thesis, which examined the legal challenges faced by American citizens who engaged in surrogacy programs in Ukraine prior to the full-scale war, received high praise from her supervising professors.

She also earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) with honors in Health Law from the International Solomon University in Kyiv, Ukraine, and a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) with honors from the Ukrainian Medical Stomatological Academy in Poltava. Prior to earning her J.D., Olena completed a residency in Emergency and Urgent Medicine at the Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, and a residency in General Surgery at the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine (formerly the National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education) in Kyiv. She practiced as a resident physician and M.D. at the Kharkiv City Clinical Hospital of Emergency and Urgent Medical Care named after Professor O. I. Meshchaninov.

Olena is fluent in English, Ukrainian, and Russian, and has basic proficiency in Belarusian, Polish, and Spanish, which enhances her ability to serve diverse clients and navigate cross-border legal issues.

Originally from Ukraine, Olena brings a global perspective to her legal practice and is deeply committed to building strong, trust-based relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
