Dirk is a partner at Holt Woods & Scisciani LLP and a trial lawyer with a foundation of complex and commercial litigation, including construction defects, insurance defense, contract and business disputes, copyright and trademark infringement, personal injury, tort defense, premises liability, and professional and products liability. As an admittee of Federal and State Courts in Washington and Oregon and the U.S. Court of Appeals in the Ninth Circuit, he is adept at handling intricate and diverse procedural issues and managing multi-jurisdictional cases.
Dirk has an outstanding record as an attorney admitted to practice in Washington and Oregon and was awarded an “AV Preeminent” rating by Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest possible peer-based rating indicating high legal abilities and ethics.
Throughout his career, Dirk has been an active part of Washington State’s legal community and is a firm believer in giving back through participation in committees and associations and speaking engagements. He is a frequent guest speaker and lecturer on legal topics at regional and national conferences and seminars, and has spoken often to various insurers, businesses, trade groups and professional associations on a variety of topics including construction defect litigation, premises liability and products liability.
Prior to joining Holt Woods & Scisciani LLP, Dirk was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Washington. He also served as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer in Papua New Guinea prior to entering the practice of law.
Dirk is a member, among others, of the Washington and Oregon State Bar Associations, the American Bar Association (ABA), the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers (WDTL), and the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC). He is currently a trustee on the WDTL Board and has previously served in that position from 2008 to 2013.
Dirk received his J.D. degree from the University of Denver, College of Law in 1998 and was a recipient of the Chancellor’s Scholarship. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1992.
Dirk is married and has two children. He is an avid tennis player, and hikes and travels extensively with his family.
